There’s a lot of confusion surrounding cosmetic fillers. As Westchester’s top destination for this favored aesthetic treatment, we thought we’d take this opportunity to clear up a few of the most common misconceptions. Keep reading to get the facts on SkinCenter’s phenomenal facial fillers!

Misconception #1: “Fillers stretch out your skin and cause it to sag.”

The only way that fillers can stretch out the skin is if they are injected into a treatment area in abnormal amounts by anyone other than a trained and certified professional.  The skin – which is incredibly elastic – simply returns back to its original state prior to treatment once fillers are dissolved either naturally overtime or by injection with hyaluronidase as previously discussed.

Misconception #2: “I don’t want to look frozen or unnatural!”

The “frozen” look people refer to when referencing injectables does not apply to fillers. Botox is an injectable treatment that temporarily freezes the muscles of the treatment area in place in order to prevent or treat lines, wrinkles, and folds. Unlike Botox, facial fillers work by adding volume to the skin by boosting its supply of hyaluronic acid—a naturally-occurring bodily compound.

As with every treatment offered here at SkinCenter, our board-certified physicians and aesthetic nurse specialists are happy to answer any additional questions you may have about injectable fillers. Get started by scheduling a free, no-obligation consultation at SkinCenter today!
