Westchester Magazine Story Features SkinCenter’s Dr. Sozio

Westchester Magazine article on laser treatments, botox, and other aesthetic treatments.

“There’s an art to cosmetic medicine…When I look at a patient, I see their whole face, not just a line on their face,” says SkinCenter’s own Joseph Sozio, M.D., in this recent Westchester Magazine article, “Doctors and the Business of Beauty

Who Do You Trust With Your Health and Beauty?

In the story, writer Sheryl Kraft shares some of the emerging trends in the world of beauty treatments, including the fact that some of the most popular aesthetic treatments in Westchester such as Botox and laser skin treatment can be obtained outside of the clinical setting, although this is not always in the best interests of the patients.

Dr. Sozio explains that the laws regulating these procedures vary from state to state. In New York, a medical license is not required to perform some of these treatments. However, at SkinCenter, we believe that having a medical license certainly gives a higher level of quality and minimizes any risk. You deserve nothing less than the very best care, from highly skilled professionals who understand all of the complexities of human anatomy, treatment technologies, and beauty. That’s why all injectable and surgical procedures are performed by licensed physicians specifically trained in cosmetic services at SkinCenter in Westchester. Laser treatments are performed by physicians, Registered Nurses and licensed aestheticians, always under the watchful eye of a cosmetic M.D. at SkinCenter.

A Diversity of Backgrounds Among Physicians

Physicians who offer beauty treatments come from many backgrounds, training in different medical disciplines. Physicians from some of these disciplines, such as dermatology, are called “core” physicians, while physicians who trained in other disciplines, such as internal medicine, opthomologists, OB/GYNs and many of the surgical specialties are sometimes referred to as “non-core” physicians. Even “core” physicians who were trained more than three or four years ago may not be formally trained in the newer cosmetic procedures as technology is advancing so rapidly.

Dr. Sozio noted the rapid advances in aesthetic treatments and that all physicians should be united in the commitment to continual education: “Once you get out of training, you have the basis for understanding to be a good practitioner”. SkinCenter’s team works diligently and continually to bring you the very best beauty treatments, with an individualized approach that focuses on your unique needs.
