Botox is a Westchester favorite for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s a safe and effective way to achieve or restore a smooth, youthful appearance with minimal interruption in your daily routine.

If you’re a Botox newbie, or just want a refresher, at SkinCenter we recommend being good to your skin for the days leading up to your appointment by following our guidance below:

Let your provider know:

If you have a history of cold sores, please let your provider know; they may put you on an anti-viral medication prior to treatment.

Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, or blemish on the area.

No Way, Rosé:

It’s best to abstain from drinking alcohol before your appointment, as it can increase the chance of bruising. Other day-to-day things like OTC pain meds such as Excedrin, ibuprofen, aspirin, and popular dietary supplements can thin your blood, which can also slow the healing process and cause bruising at the injection site. It’s best to stop any non-maintenance OTC supplements or pain medication at least a week before your Botox appointment.

Skip The Exfoliant:

Opt for a gentle face wash before your appointment and skip any harsh exfoliants or heavy moisturizers and serums. Botox should be injected into clean, untreated skin. Before your appointment, use a gentle cleanser and warm water, dabbing the skin gently to dry.

When it comes to minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, the compassionate and dedicated SkinCenter team is here for you. Contact us today for more information about our Botox services.
