We’re excited to offer a new treatment option here at WestChester’s best SkinCenter: PRX Derm Perfexion. If you’re not familiar with this new breed of peel, no worries. Here’s what you should know about PRX Derm Perfexion before you book an appointment at SkinCenter.
What Is PRX Derm Perfexion?
The first thing to know about PRX Derm Perfexion is that it’s a chemical peel that doesn’t peel. Some aestheticians refer to it as a “reverse peel.” In fact, PRX Derm Perfexion was originally used as a formula to minimize children’s scars.
Because of its mild nature, this treatment is safe and effective for all skin tones, types, and textures. It’s a fantastic peel for extra sensitive skin. This treatment is also an effective solution for cosmetic conditions such as crepey skin, stretch marks, pitted scars, fine lines, dullness, and discoloration.
If you have not found traditional chemical peels to be a good fit for your skin type, this gentler alternative will tighten, smooth, and resurface your skin with glowing results.
How Does It Work?
PRX Derm Perfexion works its magic by targeting the dermal and basal layers of your skin to stimulate cell turnover and promote your skin’s natural healing processes. It has three main ingredients: hydrogen peroxide, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and kojic acid.
The hydrogen peroxide releases oxygen when it’s applied to skin, helping to lift out impurities. It also increases skin cell’s responsivity to the other two ingredients in the formula.
TCA comprises 33% of treatment solution. This exfoliating ingredient not only helps clean the skin, but it reduces inflammation while it increases the growth of connective tissue cells called fibroblasts.
Kojic acid is a chelation agent derived from several species of fungi. It suppresses melanin production and helps brighten the skin’s appearance to give it a natural glow and more even skin tone.
What Can I Expect During and After My Appointment?
Most clients report little to no pain when receiving PRX Derm Perfexion, though some report a mild itching or tingling sensation. The treatment session typically lasts around 30-45 minutes.
One of our favorite things about PRX Derm Perfexion is its fast results. You’ll notice an immediate improvement in your skin’s appearance. Effects should last for about a year, so we do recommend annual touch-up sessions at SkinCenter to maintain your skin’s fresher look. Your aesthetician will provide a customized recommendation for when you should come in for a touch-up appointment.
