The SkinCenter team wants you to feel rejuvenated and refreshed after your Restylane CONTOUR and other filler treatments. While reactions to dermal fillers are very rare, we still want you to have the before and after care tips to look and feel great without the wait. Our new Restylane CONTOUR filler delivers a long-lasting, youthful appearance to your mid-face and highlights your cheeks.
To get the most out of your Restylane cheek contour, here are some before and after care tips to avoid bruising:
Beware of Blood Thinners:
Like any minor procedure, you will have a healing period after your Restylane treatment. Try to avoid over-the-counter NSAIDs with blood-thinning properties like Advil or Ibuprofen both before and after the procedure. If you’re taking prescription blood thinners, discuss stopping your medication regimen shortly before and after your Restylane treatment with your physician. Blood thinners can also be found in your vitamin cabinet, so it’s best to avoid supplements like Ginko Biloba, turmeric, vitamin E, flaxseed oil, or St. John’s wort as they may also heighten your chances of bruising.
Opt for a Mocktail:
While the goal of Restylane CONTOUR treatment is to give you a youthful face, you can minimize the chance of swelling by avoiding alcohol the day before and after your treatment. Alcohol is known to increase blood flow which can increase swelling and bruising in the treated areas.
Use an ice pack on the treated area both before and after your treatment to reduce discomfort and inflammation. Applying ice can also assist in blood clotting and minimizing bruising.
Reschedule Leg Day:
It’s best to avoid strenuous exercise immediately before and after your Restylane CONTOUR cheek filler treatment. Strenuous exercise can increase blood flow to already inflamed or swollen areas and delay healing. While it’s fine to return to normal daily activities almost immediately after your treatment, consider taking up a light yoga class or some Tai chi the day after your treatment.
