Microdermabrasion and chemical peels aren’t your only options when it comes to exfoliating facial treatments. Dermaplaning is a gentle alternative for those with more sensitive skin who want a skin makeover. And we’re proud to offer this solution for our Westchester clientele. Let’s explore what this procedure is and what you should know about it before scheduling a dermaplaning session at Westchester’s best SkinCenter.

Dermaplaning is a cosmetic procedure in which an aesthetician uses a scalpel to remove dead skin cells as well as “peach fuzz,” from the face. The purpose of dermaplaning is to remove the top layer of skin that gets exposed to harmful UV rays as well as environmental toxins and irritants. It’s particularly beneficial in combating skin conditions such as dryness, dullness, uneven coloration, fine wrinkles, and acne scars.

Since it involves the use of a blade, you might think this procedure is painful — but we’re happy to say that it’s not!

You’ll start to notice the results immediately after your dermaplaning session at SkinCenter. But be aware that your skin will be more sensitive in the wake of the procedure. Be prepared to wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher in the days following your appointment. This will help shield the new skin cells that the treatment revealed and minimize your risk of sunburn.

Dermaplaning is such a safe, gentle treatment and it’s common for our clients to book monthly appointments for this skincare procedure. It’s a great way to maintain the smooth skin and more radiant complexion you started enjoying after your first treatment session.
