What Causes Adult Acne

Adult acne is caused by the same factors that cause breakouts in adolescents. The main four factors that cause acne are pores being clogged, bacteria, excess oil production and inflammation. Some of the ways these factors are influenced is by fluctuations  in hormones, stress and menstrual cycles, hair and skin care products, diet, and medications.

6 Types of Acne

Non-Inflammatory

  1. Whiteheads
  2. Blackheads

Inflammatory

  1. Papules
  2. Pustules
  3. Nodules
  4. Cysts

Appropriate Treatment Depending on Severity

For moderate to severe acne: acne laser treatment, spaced 3-4 weeks apart for a total of 6 sessions

For moderate to light acne: beta peels (beta hydroxy acid) – which help to reduce the bacterial content on the skin & speeds up cellular turnover. We recommend a series of 6 sessions spaced 1 month apart.

For light acne & occasional breakouts: beta peels (see info above), or facials (Signature Facial, Mini Facial, and Blue Light Acne Facial)
